Did you know that a painful, sometimes debilitating “knot” in your muscle is not an exaggerated or overly vivid description? Musculoskeletal pain of this sort can be life-altering, but a treatment known as trigger point injections gives patients hope and relief.

Gain Wellness Center offers trigger point injections and has helped many patients experience long hoped for easing of the intense pain that accompanies deep musculoskeletal pain like this. Our approach isn’t one-size-fits-all or designed to treat a symptom or two. We are truly dedicated to looking at the interplay between your physical and emotional health and arriving at solutions that are completely customized for you.

The troubling thing about trigger points

The type of muscle knot we’ve been talking about occurs when your muscle simply can’t relax. You can often feel these troublesome trigger points if you massage the spot that’s causing you pain.

We use trigger point injections to address and soothe a wide range of painful conditions, including myofascial pain, which is an agonizing muscle and soft tissue condition. Your fascia is the thin coating of connective tissue that surrounds all your muscles. The pain caused by this condition most often affects your neck, arms, shoulder, legs, and lower back.

The treatment is also helpful for other types of neck and back pain, headaches, as well as for patients with fibromyalgia, a chronic pain condition that hinders your ability to sleep and causes fatigue.

Something unique about trigger point pain is diagnosing it. Since they aren’t visible on imaging tests, Dr. Walia must perform a physical exam, during which she palpates your muscles and inquires about any pain or sensitivity to uncover whether you’re experiencing trigger point pain.

What to know about receiving trigger point injections

When you come to Gain Wellness Center for trigger point injection treatment, we ensure that you’re comfortable during treatment. You can recline or be in a seated position, whichever offers the easiest access to your targeted treatment area and feels better for you.

After your trigger points through a manual exam, we clean your treatment area and administers your injection — though if you need more than one, the procedure will be repeated in different spots.

The effective ingredients in a trigger point injection reduce inflammation, and a bit of anesthetic, which eases pain and ensures your comfort. After your injection, you may feel a bit of tenderness, numbness, or redness at your injection site or sites, but you can resume your normal activities, for the most part, immediately after you leave our office. One caution: Wait a few days to engage in any intense physical activity.

Our patients praise trigger point injections for relieving their trigger point pain and allowing them to get back to a more normal life, free from discomfort. The treatment is brief, minimally invasive, and effective.

As your relationship with Dr. Walia progresses, you may be interested in scheduling a complete wellness evaluation, at which time we assess everything from your cellular health and your diet and exercise patterns to talking about environmental toxins, your hormonal health, and how you manage stress — all these factors impact your overall health greatly.

We also offer an excellent line of supplements for children and adults that address specific health issues and support your overall wellness. Be sure to ask us about them when you visit.
